A tasty tea loaf that combines walnuts, raisins, sugar and golden syrup. Goes great with tea any time of day. Enjoy with a dob of butter or dip it in your tea.

The Walters

Serves: 8 

  • 2 cups (250g) self raising flour
  • 60g butter
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup rasins
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup, warm
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • milk, to bind

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Add flour to a bowl. Rub in butter. Add walnuts and raisins. Stir in sugar and golden syrup. Mix in beaten egg and enough milk to make into a batter. Pour into two greased tins then bake in preheated oven until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
