    This simple cocoa cake has a lovely flavour and goes great with your morning coffee. Easy to make using ingredients you probably already have.

    Makes: 1 cake

    • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
    • 1 cup (220g) sugar
    • 1 tablespoon cocoa
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup (60g) flour
    • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
    • 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
    • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a cake tin.
    2. Mix together butter, sugar, cocoa and egg. Combine flour and cream of tartar then stir into the egg mixture. Mix together milk and bicarb soda, combine with the egg mixture. Mix well then pour into prepared tin.
    3. Bake in preheated oven until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
