Choc Brownies

    These are my delicious homemade chocolate brownies! These brownies contain nuts so if you are allergic please do not eat these brownies.

    Makes: 12 brownies

    • 1 cup wholemeal flour
    • 1/2 cup almond meal
    • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • pinch of salt
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 125ml macadamia nut oil or coconut oil
    • 180ml of maple syrup
    • 1 egg, separated
    • 60ml milk
    • 60g chocolate, chopped into small pieces
    • 60g walnuts, chopped

    1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius. Mix flour, almond meal, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Then add in vanilla extract, oil, maple syrup, egg, milk, chocolate and walnuts and mix well.
    2. Spread the mixture into a lined square cake tin and bake for 20 minutes until they are cooked through on top and slightly moist in the centre.
    3. Cool in the tin then refrigerate before cutting into 12- 16 squares.


    You don't have to use the walnuts if you don't want to but I like to add some crunch to my brownies.
