These ghost face cupcakes are quick and easy for the kids to make at Halloween time. I used mini cupcakes for this recipe but you can use any size cupcake that you want.

Makes: 12 cupcakes

  • 1 1/3 cups plain flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups caster sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup low fat milk
  • Icing
  • icing sugar
  • enought water to make a thick icing mixture
  • liquorice to make eyes and mouth

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:17min  ›  Extra time:30min cooling  ›  Ready in:1hour2min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Place patty pans into a cupcake tin.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients. In a mixing bowl cream together the butter and sugar, add one egg at a time, mixing well after each addition. Alternatle adding milk and flour, mixing well after each additoin. Add the vanilla
  3. Pour the mixture into the cupcake tin, fill 3/4 of the way. Bake for 15-17 minutes. Cool
  4. Ice with the icing sugar. Cut small rounds of liquorice for the eyes and mouth. Positoin them on the top of the cupcake.
