This classic steamed pudding is coloured with food colour, layered with some jam then steamed until done. What a fun and tasty recipe for to make with kids.

Serves: 2 

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoons boiling water
  • 2 colours of food dye
  • 1/4 cup jam

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:2hours  ›  Ready in:2hours20min 

  1. Beat egg and sugar then add flour. Dissolve the butter in water then add to the mixture. Divide dough into 3 parts. Colour each with a different colour and leave one plain.
  2. Put into a greased pudding basin, one on top of the other with a layer of jam between. Steam for 2 hours then serve with sauce or custard.
