Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Mix together oats, salt, flour, brown sugar, coconut and slivered almonds.
In a saucepan melt butter and golden syrup, stirring until well mixed. Mix bicarb soda and water together in a small bowl then stir it into the saucepan of golden syrup. Gradually stir this into the dry ingredients.
Place on baking tray in spoonfuls. Flatten with a fork then bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Cool on baking tray before moving to a cooling rack.
I changed them around for my gluten free partner, using 1/4 cup of almond meal and 1/4 cup of gluten free plain flour instead of 1/2 a cup of plain flower. Next batch I will also use 1/4 teaspoon of salt. they tasted salty to me - 24 Apr 2015
