    The best way to make chilli con carne is in the slow cooker. This is full of beans and vegies and is a meal on its own.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 500g beef mince
    • 1 small brown onion, peeled and diced
    • 2 stalks celery, diced
    • 1 green capsicum, diced
    • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    • 1 (700g) jar tomato pasta sauce
    • 2 (400g) cans kidney beans, liquid reserved from one can
    • 2 (400g) cans cannellini beans, liquid reserved
    • 2 teaspoons chilli powder
    • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
    • 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:8hours  ›  Ready in:8hours15min 

    1. Cook mince in a oiled large frying pan over high heat, stirring, until browned.
    2. Place the mince in a slow cooker and stir in remaining ingredients including bean liquids.
    3. Cover and cook, on low setting, for 8 hours.

    I made this for a group of people in my bible study group. I've never made chili con carne before and it was only the 2nd time I've ever used my slow cooker. It was so simple and tasted GREAT! Everyone was impressed, including me! I served it with warm, crusty turkish bread and sour cream, grated cheese & shallots like shown in the photo! - 27 May 2010

    Used different ingredients. Was looking for a recipe that was similar to one I used to use but lost. This was it and it was great. If you like it spicy, you will need to up the spices. I also added some cumin and swapped out the tomato puree for tomato chunks. Everyone loved it! - 29 Sep 2008
