Peanut Butter and Oat Smoothie

    Smoothies are great as part of a nutritious breakfast but this one is a meal in itself due to the addition of oats.

    Serves: 1 

    • 1 banana
    • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
    • 1/2 cup (125ml) orange juice
    • 2 tablespoons quick cooking oats
    • 4 frozen strawberries

    1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. It takes a little more blending than a regular smoothie because of the oats.

    I blended the oats into a fine powder first in my blender before adding the other ingredients. My biggest complaints with this smoothie are 1) too much peanut butter and 2) the peanut butter flavor doesn't play well with the orange and strawberry.  -  01 May 2013
