    This sangria is a little unusual, being made with white wine and served hot. Blood orange juice gives a beautiful tint.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 blood oranges
    • 1 (750ml) bottle fruity white wine, such as Chardonnay
    • 2 small sticks cinnamon
    • 2 whole pods star anise
    • 4 cloves
    • 2 tablespoons cointreau

    1. Cut off the blood orange zest in four spirals and set aside. Squeeze both oranges.
    2. Mix juice with wine, cinnamon, star anise and clove and heat without boiling. Stir in orange liqueur and strain.
    3. Pour into punch glasses and garnish each glass with orange zest.
