    I've tried many pizza base recipes and have had the most consistent success with this one. Will always give you a crunchy bottom without being rock hard.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 2 Large pizza bases

    • 1 sachet (1 tsp) dried yeast
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 1/4 cup warm water
    • 1 1/2 cups plain flour
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tbsp oil
    • approx 1/3 cup water

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:40min rising  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

    1. Combine yeast, sugar and warm water in a small bowl.
    2. Cover with glad wrap and stand in a warm place for about 10 mins or until foamy. (You can fill your sink with warm-hot water and stand bowl in it).
    3. Sift flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir in yeast mixture and add oil. Start adding extra water slowly, mixing as you go, to make a soft non sticky dough.
    4. Turn out onto floured board and knead lightly for about 5 mins.
    5. Put a splash of oil into mixing bowl (to stop the dough from sticking) and return the dough.
    6. Cover with glad wrap and stand in a warm place for about 40 mins or until dough has doubled in size.
    7. Turn out onto floured board and knead dough again for about 5 mins. Divide into two balls and knead again for a few more mins.
    8. Lightly oil 2 pizza trays and start rolling out the dough to fit the trays.

    Tip

    For a really fluffy base, once on the trays, let the dough rest for 30 mins before loading up with your favourite toppings.
