Sweet Chilli Steak and Prawns

    Being a full-time working mum of four kids I am always looking for something different for dinner that is also quick and easy to prepare. Tonight I didn't have enough steak in the fridge for dinner for my hungry family, I decided to (yet again) wing it for this recipe by adding 500g of green prawns, sweet chilli and tomato paste to make a variation of surf'n'turf.

    Serves: 6 

    • 500g porterhouse steak (or other cut)
    • 500g raw prawns (shelled)
    • 1-2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce (more or less to suit taste)
    • 1 sachet (about two tablespoons) tomato paste

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. Trim any excess fat and cut steak into 1-1/2cm cubes. Shell prawns and clean (or used defrosted prawns from the freezer).
    2. Put a little olive oil in a large pan, add steak and cook gently until browned. Add prawns, sweet chilli and tomato paste to meat and stir until thoroughly coated.
    3. Cook over low heat for approximately 15-20minutes until prawns and meat are cooked through.
    4. I served this with my version of scalloped potatoes and a selection of green vegetables.
