    Although the cake has no eggs or milk, it's a chocolate cake that is moist, delicious and dark, a treat for all the family, and for any celebration.

    Serves: 10 

    • 1 1/2 cups (190g) plain flour
    • 1 cup (200g) white sugar
    • 4 tablespoons (20g) unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 6 tablespoons (90ml) vegetable oil
    • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 1 cup (235ml) water

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, bi carb soda and salt together into a 20 x 20cm ungreased cake tin. Make three depressions.
    3. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third well. Pour water over all and stir well with fork.
    4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Coat with your favourite icing.

    For it being the first time I've made a cake for allergies etc this turned out great! I used a mixer tho as it gave it a shiny finish. So super easy and cooks in no time! - 07 Oct 2014
