If you like your chocolate chip biscuits chewy instead of crunchy you have to try this recipe! The walnuts are optional.

Serves: 18 

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted plain flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.
  2. Mix sugar and margarine until smooth and fluffy. Beat eggs and add bicarb soda which has been dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water.
  3. Sift flour and salt together and add to the creamed mixture. Add vanilla and fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
  4. Drop by spoonfuls onto lightly greased baking trays. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes.
