    Just like you used to make before the fire! These biscuit bars combine chocolate, marshmallows and peanuts for the perfect treat.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 18 

    • 3/4 cup white sugar
    • 125g butter, softened
    • 1 egg
    • 1 1/2 cups (185g) plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 cups (375ml) milk chocolate, chopped
    • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
    • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Lightly grease a 20x30cm pan.
    2. In large mixer bowl combine sugar, butter and egg until creamy (2 or 3 minutes). Reduce mixer speed and add flour, baking powder and salt until blended.
    3. Spread batter into baking pan. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until set.
    4. Sprinkle chopped chocolate over batter and top with marshmallows and peanuts. Continue baking 10 to 12 minutes until marshmallows are lightly browned. Cool and cut into bars.

    Several things to mention: Since S'Mores MUST include graham crackers, I replaced 1/2 cup of the flour with 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs. Spreading the batter in the pan is a mucky job, but ultimately it's worth it. I chose to broil the marshmallows until lightly browned, which only takes about 40 seconds in my oven--unfortunately, on my first try I let them sit for about a minute and a half--hey, at least I know my smoke detector works. . . Finally, these are not by any means an elegant or sophisticated bar--but kids positively inhale them! They are ooey, gooey, sticky delicious fun--I should know, I've certainly eaten my share today.  -  26 Mar 2000  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

    This was great, and really easy. The hardest part is cutting throuh the gooey marshmallow. I substituted 3/4 graham crumbs for half of the flour. You can't have smores without graham crackers. These are great warm with vanilla ice cream  -  18 Mar 2002  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

    my trick now for most squares, etc, is to make them in muffin papers. saves having to cut them apart, everyone gets the same size (yep with kids that matters). i just used my small scoop and put into the papers. I also swapped out part of the flour for graham crumbs, it really makes a difference. i used chocolate chips (not bars) as that is what I had on hand.
