Bread Machine White Bread

This is my standard white bread that I make in the bread machine. It stays fresh longer than any other recipe I have tried.

Serves: 15 

  • 1 cup (250ml) water
  • 1 extra large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup (135g) bread flour
  • 2 cups (250g) plain flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:3hours  ›  Ready in:3hours5min 

  1. Place ingredients in bread machine in order suggested by your manufacturer.
  2. Select basic bread setting, normal crust.

This is basically the same as my recipe - I use 1 cup plain Spelt flour to 2 cups wholemeal Spelt flour. It's a wonderful loaf. You can use any combination of plain to wholemeal, it just changes the height of the loaf. I break and egg into a measuring jug and fill it up to 290ml and then beat the egg into the water. Then I add the milk powder, salt, oil and pour into baking dish. Then add the flour and yeast. - 24 Jan 2015
