    Italian Sausage Spaghetti Sauce

    This is my favourite spaghetti sauce with red wine, Italian sausage, garlic and onions. Use a large, flat-bottomed saucepan so that the flavours can mingle.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 (800g) tin tomatoes (crushed)
    • 185g tomato paste
    • 1 cup (250ml) Merlot wine
    • 450g Italian sausages, sliced

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

    1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic until tender and fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste and wine. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
    2. Reduce heat to low, stir in sausage and simmer until sausage is thoroughly cooked.
