Mustard and Honey Barbecue Sauce

    This is a great way to finish of a dish of sauteed pork or beef. The base is mustard, not the normal tomato sauce.

    Serves: 12 

    • 1 bottle yellow mustard
    • 4 tablespoons honey
    • 4 tablespoons light brown soft sugar
    • 4 tablespoons distilled cider vinegar
    • freshly ground black pepper to taste

    Preparation:2min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:7min 

    1. In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together the mustard, honey, sugar and vinegar. Season with black pepper. Bring to the boil and let simmer for 5 minutes. Pour over cooked pork or beef. If you want more flavour, let the meat simmer in the sauce for about 30 minutes.

    Used different ingredients. This is a great base sauce for pork. My personal taste leans towards something with more bite, so I add a hint of Worchestershire saucea, garlic powder, cayenne and chipotle pepper. The smoky flavour of the chipotle really accents the mustard/vinegar base!  -  29 Sep 2008


    Something else. I served the sauce over a pork sandwich (made from loin) with toasted bun and coleslaw on top! You made me look like a star! colour and favor were spot on! Thanks!  -  29 Sep 2008


    This recipe is a little different to what I know, we use apple cider vinegar and less honey  -  29 Sep 2008
