These are delicious hoop biscuits with an orange icing which you dip them into while still hot from the oven. Very easy to make!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 18

    • 170g butter
    • 1/3 cup (65g) white sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
    • 3 cups (375g) plain flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 2 1/2 cups (300g) icing sugar

    Directions
    Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:17min  ›  Ready in:47min

    1. Cream margarine or butter and sugar thoroughly; add eggs, vanilla and 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Combine flour and baking powder and gradually add to creamed mixture.
    2. Knead dough on lightly floured board for about 5 minutes. Using tablespoonfuls of dough roll in 15cm lengths; press ends together to form rings. Let stand on ungreased baking trays at room temperature for 15 minutes.
    3. Bake 180 degrees C for 15-17 minutes or until lightly golden.
    4. To Make Icing: Combine 2 1/2 cups icing sugar with enough orange juice to make a thin glaze. Dip each hot biscuit into glaze; cool on racks. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired.

i have searched so long for these cookies. my motherinlaw died about 5 years ago and never got the recipe. it broke my daughers heart. yesterday i told her jeannine i think i found a recipe for nanas cookies and we both made them. as we were making them she said a prayer to her nana and said please nana help us with this. well when the cookies were done and we tasted them they tasted exactly like her cookies. my daugher started to cry and said mom i am so happy we found them. i have to thank u so much for this dream come true. my husband also said my god they taste just like moms cookies. i have to say thank you thank you for helping us with this. love jeannine and mary ellen  -  19 Oct 2008  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

Was looking for a recipe like my husband's grandmother, and this was it!!! These are excellent and so easy to make...thank you for sharing! The only extra we do is to add a little anise extract to the icing, it makes them just perfect!  -  17 Dec 2005  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

I rarely give any recipe 5 stars because I'm always trying to please 3 other picky family members, however my family LOVED these cookies. My son practically at a dozen by himself before I could get them to a cookie tray for Christmas eve. I sprinkled with red sugars. Will definately have these on my cookie trays from now on!  -  29 Dec 2007  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
