This recipe makes a lovely moist egg bread, flavourful and sweet. It's great by itself, or use it for french toast and summer sandwiches.


Serves: 15 

  • 1 cup (250ml) warm water
  • 5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 cups (375g) plain flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant mashed potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons margarine

Preparation:1hour  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:1hour30min 

  1. Measure ingredients into the bread machine in the order suggested by the manufacturer.
  2. Set machine for dough.
  3. Place dough in a loaf tin. Allow to rise until doubled. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes. Crust should be golden and bread should sound hollow when thumped.
