It's so easy to make your own muesli bars. They're great for hikes, long road trips and camping, and they keep a fair time - unless you eat them all!

Serves: 24

  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 (400g) tin sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:25min

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a 20x30cm pan.
  2. In a large bowl mix together the oats, sweetened condensed milk, butter, coconut, almonds, chocolate chips and cranberries with your hands until well blended. Press flat into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven depending on how crunchy you want them. Lightly browned just around the edges will give you moist, chewy bars. Let cool for 5 minutes, cut into squares then let cool completely before serving.

this recipe was so easy and they taste way better than bought muesli bars. I also added some chopped dried apricots and sultanas. my family loved them. If you like them firmer maybe bake in two smaller slice tins. - 14 Feb 2012
