Classic Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies

    This chocolate chip cookie recipe makes a large batch of cookies, about five dozen. Let them cool for a while before eating or they will crumble.

    Makes: 60 cookies

    • 500g margarine
    • 1 cup white sugar
    • 2 cups brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
    • 4 eggs
    • 4 1/2 cups plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
    • 4 cups dark chocolate chips

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Mix in the vanilla and eggs until well blended. Combine the flour, bicarb soda and baking powder then stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays. Cookies should be at least 5cm apart.
    3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until edges are golden.
