Homemade Baked Beans with Bacon

    Four different types of beans are mixed in a sweet sauce with treacle, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire and Tabasco, then oven baked with streaky bacon.

    • 1 (400g) tin kidney beans, drained (optional)
    • 1 (400g) tin borlotti beans, drained
    • 1 (400g) tin butter beans, drained
    • 1 (400g) tin cannellini beans, drained
    • 1 small bottle (60ml) Tabasco(TM)
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tablespoons treacle
    • 3 rashers streaky bacon, cut in half

    1. Preheat oven to 160 degrees C.
    2. In a medium baking dish, mix kidney beans, borlotti beans, butter beans, cannellini beans, Tabasco, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and treacle. Top with bacon.
    3. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, until thick and bubbly.
