    1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Crumble beef mince into the saucepan and cook stirring frequently until well browned. Remove meat, leaving excess oil in the saucepan.
    2. Cook onion and garlic in oil over medium-high heat until translucent. Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans, vegetable soup mix and water. Reduce heat and simmer 40 minutes.
    3. Add pasta stars, cover and simmer 20 minutes more or until pasta is tender. You may add more water at any time to adjust consistency.

I love this recipe. GREAT "car camping" food. I make the whole dish in the evening, eat about half of it, and then put the rest in my thermos for lunch the next day. I used mac-noodles instead of stars, as I couldn't find any--still great. And it's all small enough to get into--and back out of your thermos bottle.  -  06 May 2005  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

This was delicious!! It was very easy and had tons of flavor. You could easily leave out the hamburger and it would be just as delicious and filling. Also, you could add more veggies if you like.  -  11 Jun 2004  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

Very good soup. My parents and my husband all liked it, and it's not hard. I used ditalini pasta because I couldn't find the stars. I ended up adding two cans of tomato soup and water to give it more liquid.  -  06 Aug 2004  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
