Chocolate Chip Walnut Cake

    This is a great recipe for chocolate chip walnut cake, it is sweet and moist and is great for afternoon tea or used for a birthday cake. You can add any type of nuts that you like.

    • 150g butter, chopped
    • 3/4 cup white sugar
    • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 3/4 cup wholemeal flour
    • 1 1/2 cups (185g) plain flour
    • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup (250ml) chocolate milk
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla essence
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    • 1/2 cup choc chips

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Grease and flour two 24cm round cake tins.
    2. In the bowl of an electric mixer cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
    3. Sift the flours, baking powder and salt. Add the milk and flour alternately into the bowl. Add the vanilla. Add the choc chips and walnuts to the bowl. Mix to incorporate.
    4. Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake tins. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
