Walnut Wrapped in Marzipan

This is a very easy nibble that is made by joining together two walnut halves in a marzipan skin then dipping in a brown sugar syrup and leaving to set.


Makes: 25 approximately

  • 1 1/2 cups (250g) dark brown soft sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) water
  • 1 shot (45ml) rum
  • icing sugar, as required
  • 50g marzipan
  • 250g walnut halves

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:4hours drying  ›  Ready in:4hours30min 

  1. Boil sugar with water into a thick syrup. Add rum at the end.
  2. Sprinkle icing sugar over a work surface and roll the marzipan out over it. Cut into small circles.
  3. Press two walnut halves together in a marzipan circle. Carefully insert a cocktail stick or toothpick into the marzipan.
  4. Coat with the syrup.
  5. Place on a baking tray with greased foil and allow to dry for several hours.
