These dumplings are an amazing apple dessert that is simple to make. A basic dough is made then finely diced apples are folded in before being simmering in water and served with a sprinkle of sugar and cinnamon.


Serves: 4 

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) milk
  • 30g unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 1/4 (400g) plain flour
  • 500g apples, very finely diced
  • melted butter, to taste
  • cinnamon and sugar, to taste

  1. Whisk together eggs, salt and sugar. Mix in milk and 30g melted butter. Add flour and mix into a smooth dough. Fold apples into the dough.
  2. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil. Take two tablespoons of dough and shape into a round dumpling.
  3. Cook the sample dumpling in simmering water if it doesn't break apart the dough is ready. If it does break apart you need to add more flour.
  4. Form all dumplings then place into a saucepan with barely simmering water and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from water drain well. Pour some melted butter over dumplings and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
