Pear and Blackberry Crumble

    1 hour

Sometimes it is nice to deviate from the standard crumble formula and that is when I stumbled on this great pear and blackberry version with an almond crumble.

    1 person made this

    Serves: 6

    • 1kg pears
    • 500g blackberries (frozen or fresh)
    • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, divided
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
    • 90g cold butter
    • 3/4 cup (90g) plain flour
    • 1 cup (155g) dark brown soft sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 60g coarsely cut almonds (skin-on)

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:1hour

    1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.
    2. Peel pears, core and cube. Wash and drain blackberries.
    3. Mix pears and blackberries in a large bowl with 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and cardamom. Pour into a buttered baking dish.
    4. Mix butter (in small pieces) with flour, dark brown soft sugar, salt, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg and almonds until a crumbly mass forms.
    5. Spread over fruit and bake in preheated oven 45 minutes until topping starts to bubble. Serve warm.

The pear takes on the blackberry flavour and it works really well. Great pudding.  -  22 Aug 2016  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
