Preheat oven to 200 degrees C. Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, allspice, cloves and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until combined. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and treacle. Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the creamed mixture.
Shape dough into grape sized balls, and roll them in the extra flour. Place the cookies 4cm apart onto an ungreased baking tray and flatten slightly by tapping with your finger or a fork.
Bake in 200 degree oven for 12 -15 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
