Mashed Potatoes with a Twist

    These mashed potatoes with bacon are great served with eggs. This dish originates from Germany and is lovely comfort food.

    Serves: 2 

    • 750g potatoes
    • 50g streaky bacon
    • 1 large onion
    • 25g butter
    • salt and black pepper
    • paprika to garnish

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Cook the potatoes in salted boiling water for 20 minutes or until tender.
    2. Cut up the bacon into small chunks and thinly slice the onion.
    3. Melt half the butter in a frying pan and fry the bacon until crispy, remove and set aside, add the onion to the frying pan and fry for few minutes until soft.
    4. Season the potatoes with salt and pepper add remaining butter and mash until smooth, stir in half the bacon and half the onion.
    5. Place on serving plate and sprinkle over the remaining onion and bacon, then sprinkle over paprika then serve.


    Use salt, pepper and paprika to your own taste.
