Easy Delicious Gingerbread Men

    A easy yummy treat for parties and special occasions for kids and adults. Enjoy them!!!!!!!! You can just whip them up in seconds. Recipe created by Ella and Emmie - aged 10.

    Makes: 16 

    • 2 pinches cinnamon
    • 3 table spoons honey
    • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
    • 3/4 cup sugar
    • 320g self-raising flour
    • 1 egg
    • 125g butter
    • To decorate
    • 1 cup icing sugar
    • enough boiling water to make a paste
    • currants
    • glace cherries

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:8min  ›  Extra time:3min  ›  Ready in:31min 

    1. Preheat Oven to 150 degrees c.
    2. Melt honey and butter together in a large bowl in microwave
    3. Remove bowl from microwave and add sugar and egg and mix. Add sifted flour and ginger. Mix well
    4. Turn onto a floured board, knead lightly and roll out to 5mm thick.
    5. Cut out in a gingerbread man shapes or other (e.g. duck, star, heart, bunny)
    6. Place in preheated oven. Set timer 6-8min bake to golden brown
    7. While that is cooking make icing use a variety of colours
    8. Decorate with icing, currants and glace cherries
    9. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

    i just made this with my children aged 3 and 18 mths and we all had heaps of fun. the recipe is easy and i had everything required in the cupboard and it taste great. we will be making this again very soon. we also didn't bother about icing them we just had them plain.  -  11 Dec 2010
