This tasty Korean side dish known as 'Hobak Namool' is zucchinis stir fried with brined baby prawns, garlic and onion.


Serves: 2 

  • 360g zucchini
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brined/salted baby prawns
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

  1. Wash the zucchini and cut in half longwise and slice into about 1/2cm thick slices. Preserve the zucchini with 1 teaspoon salt by sprinkling the salt over the zucchini and leaving it for 10 minutes. Then drain off the liquid.
  2. Put a frying pan with 2 teaspoons oil over medium heat. When the frying pan is hot put in the preserved zucchini, brined prawns and garlic.
  3. Sauté for about 5 minutes then add sliced onions, black pepper and sesame seeds; sauté another 5 minutes.
