Beef and Beer Stew

This is a easy and cheap but hearty stew requiring only a few ingredients, the most important of which is beer.

I added Garlic with the onions, a touch of Worcestershire sauce at some stage, about two tea spoons of caster sugar and cornflour . Was fantastic.

Something else. There are only two of us so I altered the amount of carrots. The real reason for TWEAKING is that I used Baxter's French Onion Soup and a small can of Guinness. I also added mushrooms. Did not add salt. It was DELICIOUS!

This stew was easy to make and was very delicious. Added 4 potatoes to mine to pad it out a bit. Yum!

Very simple and versatile recipe. I used hobgoblin ale and added some swede and potato I needed to use up. It was delicious!

Good recipe, went down a treat with friends! I used guinness and topside of beef cubed as I can't get stewing steak where I am. The stew was a bit watery so about an hour before the end of cooking time I mixed 2 tablespoons of plain flour in a separate bowl with some of the gravy to make a paste, then added 1 spoonful at a time. Served with cheesy-topped mash. Yum!
