Creamy Apple Tart

    For such a simple recipe this creates amazing results. Apples are baked in a tart containing a vanilla creme fraiche custard.

    Serves: 1 

    • 1 puff pastry sheet, rolled
    • 6 apples
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 100ml milk
    • 200ml creme fraiche
    • 1 cup (125g) caster sugar
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla custard powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 1 egg

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

    1. Line a pie tin with the pastry sheet then prick the bottom with a fork.
    2. Thinly slice the apples and layer the apple slices on the dough; sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
    3. In a bowl mix the milk, creme fraiche, sugar, custard powder, vanilla essence and egg then pour over the apple slices.
    4. Bake in preheated oven to 200 degrees C until golden brown.

    well...i accidently added philadelphia cream cheese instead of creme fraiche! oops But it still tasted delicious and really was easy to make! Thanks for the recipe  -  21 Aug 2011


    I cooked this. The top was lovely but the pastry on the base was raw Any suggestions as to how to get all the pastry cooked thru  -  04 Sep 2016  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
