Brown Sourdough Bread

    Sourdough is a wonderful unique tasting bread and easier to make than you may think; this is a lovely brown bread version that I make often.

    Serves: 1 

    • 450g rye flour
    • 450g flour
    • 125g sourdough
    • 1½ teaspoons salt
    • 20g yeast
    • 600ml lukewarm water

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Extra time:1hour20min rising  ›  Ready in:2hours40min 

    1. Add the water and knead well. Cover the dough and leave to rise for 20 minutes.
    2. Mix the rye flour, flour, sourdough and yeast.
    3. Add salt, knead again and leave to rise for 30 minutes.
    4. Place into a floured loaf tin and leave to rise for 30-40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 250 degree C.
    5. Bake bread for 10 minutes in the oven then reduce the temperature to 200 degrees C and bake for 50 minutes.
