A beautiful cake with a nutella infused layer and lots of cherries is baked to perfection then decorated with a vanilla cream cheese icing and bright red sour cherry glaze.


Serves: 12 

  • 100g butter
  • 2/3 cup (155g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 3 eggs
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 3/4 cups (220g) flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 jar sour cherries
  • Cream
  • 200g cream
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 250g cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • Glaze
  • 1 packet cake glaze or gelatine
  • sour cherry juice

  1. Make a batter from the butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Add the milk and the flour mixed with baking powder.
  2. Grease a springform tin and fill it with half of the batter. Mix the remaining batter with the Nutella and spread it over the original batter in the tin. Drain the cherries and distribute them over the batter.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C and bake the cake for 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
  4. Cream: Whisk the cream with vanilla. In another bowl stir the cream cheese with vanilla essence and fold into the whipped cream. Spread the cream mixture over the cooled cake and allow to set for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  5. Glaze: Make the glaze with sour cherry juice and pour over the cake. Place in the fridge again.
