Ham and Cheese Sandwich

    This is the ultimate ham and cheese sandwich with heaps of melted cheese. The ham and Swiss cheese is soaked in a cheese and milk mix before being fried.

    Serves: 2 

    • 4 slices bread, toasted
    • 4 slices Swiss cheese
    • 2 slices cooked ham
    • 25g butter
    • 4 tablespoons milk
    • 50g grated Gruyère cheese

    1. Spread butter on two slices of toast. Cut the cheese and the ham to the same size as the toast.
    2. Place 1 slice of Swiss, 1 slice of ham and another slice of Swiss on each piece of toast. Place another slice of buttered toast on top of each.
    3. Whisk the milk with the grated Gruyère and pour it onto a flat plate. Dip both sides of the sandwiches in the milk until it's all been soaked up. Press the cheese onto the toast.
    4. Heat butter in a frying pan and fry the sandwich until golden-brown on both side and the cheese is melted completely inside. Serve immediately.
