Cherries are baked on a chocolate and hazelnut cake batter to create a rich dark chocolate and cherry cake.


Serves: 12 

  • 125g butter or margarine
  • 1 cup (250g) sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup (125g) flour
  • 125g ground hazelnuts
  • 100g chocolate, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 (200g) jar cherries

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C and grease a springform baking tin.
  2. Beat butter or margarine until fluffy. Beat in the sugar.
  3. Drain cherries then spread evenly on the dough and press lightly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes.
  4. Gradually mix in the eggs, flour, hazelnuts, chocolate, cinnamon and baking powder to make a batter. Pour into the prepared tin.
