    The use of tonic water reduces the salt content plus there is no added fat. The end result is a healthy, succulent and sweet leg of ham. Serve hot with cauliflower cheese and peas.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1 leg of ham
    • 1 litre water
    • 1 litre tonic water

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour30min  ›  Ready in:1hour45min 

    1. Place the ham in large saucepan and just cover with tap water.
    2. Bring to the boil and boil rapidly for 10 minutes.
    3. Dispose of water.
    4. Return ham to saucepan and just cover with tonic water.
    5. Bring to the boil then reduce to a simmer for anything from 1 to 3 hours depending on size of ham.
