Ham and Tomato Spaghetti

This is a simple dinner that uses ham and tomatoes as the primary ingredients. It is quick to cook making an ideal choice for when you are in a hurry.


Serves: 4 

  • 350g spaghetti
  • 60g butter
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • 1 (400g) tin diced tomatoes
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper, to taste
  • 75g cooked ham, diced
  • 75g Parmesan, grated

  1. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil and cook the spaghetti for about 12 minutes.
  2. Heat the butter and add the onions, garlic, oregano and bay leaf. Cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste and season with the Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the ham and stir. Pour the sauce over the spaghetti and mix well to coat. Serve with the grated Parmesan on top.

Simply delicious. I added slightly more Worcestershire Sauce and sugar for my taste, also a few dashes of Tobasco and fresh basil at the end. - 15 Jun 2015
