A sultana and cherry boiled cake that is easy to make and easy to eat. I suggest slicing it in 2cm thick slices and serving with hot coffee.


Serves: 8 

  • 200g sugar
  • 250ml milk
  • 60g sultanas
  • 110g margarine or butter
  • 250g self raising flour
  • 110g glace cherries, diced
  • 1 egg, whisked

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:50min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

  1. Put sugar, milk, sultanas and margarine in a saucepan and bring to the boil then turn down and simmer for 5 minutes. Then leave to cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Add flour and cherries and mix well. Add in the eggs and stir well.
  3. Place mixture in greased loaf tin and put in preheated oven at 180 degrees C for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
