Fat Free Sponge Cake

    A sponge cake without any fat component; no butter or milk. It tastes great and goes well with fresh cream and strawberries.

    Serves: 6 

    • 4 eggs
    • 170g caster sugar
    • 1/2 cup (60g) plain flour
    • 35g cornflour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:30min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Separate eggs then whisk egg whites. Combine the in the sugar. Whisk yolks then combine with the egg white mixture.
    3. Fold in the plain flour, cornflour and baking powder.
    4. Divide between the two 20cm cake tins. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
