    This is a simple fruit cake recipe that starts with boiling the main ingredients then adding the flours to finish. Cooked in a bread tin it makes a great loaf.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 200g sultanas
    • 1 cup (250ml) milk
    • 200g sugar
    • 125g margarine
    • 2 cups (250g) self raising flour
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour15min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C.
    2. Put sultanas, milk, margarine and sugar in a saucepan, bring to boil stirring all the time. Once it is boiling turn the heat off. Leave to cool for 10 minutes.
    3. Fold in the flour and mix well. Add egg and mix again.
    4. Pour into a greased bread tin and put in a preheated oven for 1 hour.

    very easy to prepare also nice and tasty only problem was although i let it get cooled down i couldnt slice it properly it was crumbly can anyone help?  -  11 Nov 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

    love this cake, ive done it a few time. the only problem i have is my fruit will sometime sink to the bottom. (if u understand me). any advice to stop this from happening, its probably my fault.  -  16 Apr 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)

    Used different ingredients. I tried it with 250ml of strong tea instead of the milk (kind of like a Bara Brith idea), and it was excellent as well, maybe a bit lighter.  -  09 Nov 2010  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
