Easy Sourdough Bread

Sourdough bread is easy to make in the bread machine. You can make your own starter ahead of time with yeast, flour and water.

Is a heavy bread, but tasty. Had to add a couple tablespoons of liquid.

As others noted, this recipe needed quite a bit more water to obtain the correct consistency. The loaf rose perfectly using the 2lb whole wheat setting on my bread machine. Bread is slightly crumbly with a great sourdough flavor.

Liquid amount changes based on your starter. I use 1:1 water to flour in my starter, had to increase added water to 2/3 cup. I also messed with wheat to white flour ratio. Like the results!

I did not readily find the sourdough flavor was as strong as I wished it would have been. There is not very much whole wheat in the recipe. The bread is not a very firm bread either.
