    Porridge becomes very creamy with long slow cooking. Starting this recipe the night before means the porridge is ready in the morning with no effort.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 cup (155g) rolled oats
    • 3 cups (750ml) water
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 cup (250g) full cream milk
    • 1/4 cup (45g) brown sugar, or to taste

    1. Just before going to bed combine the oats and water in a slow cooker. Set on Low, cover and let cook overnight. In the morning, stir in the salt and milk. Scoop into bowls and sprinkle brown sugar over the top.
