Special Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

    If you are like me you like your salad dressing jazzed up a bit. I find adding garlic, basil and oregano to an off-the-shelf dressing really makes a difference.

    Serves: 8 

    • 1 cup (250ml) vinaigrette salad dressing
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
    • 1 tablespoon white sugar

    Preparation:10min  ›  Extra time:1day chilling  ›  Ready in:1day10min 

    1. Whisk together the salad dressing, garlic, basil, oregano and sugar. Refrigerate for 24 hours and serve chilled.

    Genious! What a great way to perk up regular 'ol store bought dressing! Who knew that just a couple of ingredients you have on hand could do so much for a bottle of dressing.     Not quite as good as Olive Garden, but on the right track. I used Newman's Olive Oil and Vinegar dressing and added 1/4 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp. fresh ground pepper and 1 Tbsp. parmesan cheese. This made it a little better. But it was adding an extra 1/4 cup white wine vinegar that give it that extra zip, much more like Olive Garden!  -  15 Feb 2010  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
