Slow Cooker Chickpea Curry

    Easy chickpea curry just got easier - it's made in a slow cooker. Great vegetarian main or side. Serve with naan or roti.

    Makes: 4 

    • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 1 onion diced
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • ginger, 2.5cm piece peeled and grated
    • 1 tsp cumin
    • 1 tsp turmeric
    • 1 tsp coriander
    • 1 tin chick peas
    • 1 tin diced tomatoes
    • 1/2 tasp garam masala

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:6hours  ›  Ready in:6hours10min 

    1. Rinse and drain the chickpeas.
    2. In a frypan, sauté oil, onions, ginger and garlic for 5 minutes.
    3. Place this onion mixture and all other ingredients - except for garam masala - in a slow cooker.
    4. Cook on low for 6-9 hours. Before serving, add garam masala.

    I followed the recipe exactly, and found it a little bland for my taste (we are all different), so I added some chopped fresh chilli and that improved it immensely.  -  07 May 2013


    Really great recipe, I doubled the recipe to serve 4 and I added a couple of Tablespoons of Tomato purée . I found it 5 hours on low was adequate cooking time in my crock pot  -  05 Feb 2015  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
