Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

    We like to have lots of barbecues and I love to barbecue asparagus. These bacon wrapped versions are great!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 2 

    • 10 spears fresh asparagus, trimmed
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    • 5 bacon strips, halved lengthwise

    Directions
    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Place asparagus on a sheet of bakingpaper; coat with cooking spray or brush with oil. Sprinkle with pepper; turn to coat. Wrap a bacon piece around two or three spears; secure ends with toothpicks. BBQ over medium-low heat for 8-12 minutes or until bacon is crisp, turning occasionally. Discard toothpicks to serve.

    Yummy! I did cook this in the oven at 400° for 25 minutes. I finished it under the broiler for 3 minutes to get a nice crisp on the bacon. This was a hit!  -  17 Jun 2008  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

    This is a great way to make asparagus. I cut off the fatty side of the bacon, using only the meatier side to wrap my asparagus. I brushed the ends and tips with extra virgin olive oil mixed with ground black pepper and roated them in the oven at 450 for 15-20 minutes as another reviewer suggested and they were perfect! I lined my baking pan with wax paper to prevent the bacon from sticking to the bottom and they came out beautifully.
