Kangaroo Caraway Burgers

    Roo burgers for the BBQ or cooked inside in the frypan. Serve in Turkish bread rolls with lettuce and tomato or add any burger fillings that you like..

    Serves: 8 

    • 500g kangaroo mince
    • 1 small onion finely cut or minced
    • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
    • 1/2 bunch fresh thyme
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon lemon rind
    • salt, pepper
    • 1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs (optional)
    • oil for cooking

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. Mix the mince, onion, caraway seeds, thyme, egg and lemon rind together.
    2. Check for seasoning and add salt and pepper as needed. If mixture is too wet and sticky add the breadcrumbs.
    3. Shape the meat mixture into 8 balls and flatten them with the palm of your hand.
    4. Heat the oil in a frypan until very hot and fry till cooked, turning once - around 5-7 minutes.

    Kanga burgers are the finest because of the low fat content. great recipe. Crocodile is also great.  -  05 Feb 2012


    I made these with venison (deer meat) and the family liked them cooked on the bbq outside. I left out the caraway seed because I cannot stomach it.  -  22 Sep 2009  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
