Almond cake cake comes in two main forms, where the flour is substituted for almond meal/flour making it gluten free, or simply a cake that includes or garnishes with almonds. Both are equally tasty and there are many examples of both in this collection.
Although there are quite a few steps to this cake the results are worth it. A whole orange, including the skin, is used in the recipe which produces a rich intense flavour. Almonds replace the flour thus making this a traditional torte style of cake.
A beautiful moist light orange cake and gluten free as long as you've got the right baking powder. Super easy to make and people love it! Serve in wedges with a mound of whipped cream or ice cream.
A very moist and fruity cake that uses the whole orange for its amazing flavour. Cooking the oranges twice makes the skin less bitter.
Make this sweet almondy cake when fresh rhubarb is in season. This recipe makes two cakes.
This deliciously light and moist cake is both gluten-free and dairy-free so it's great if you've got intolerant eaters with a sweet tooth. It's my own recipe that comes from a cross between traditional orange and almond cake and apple upside down cake. It's not the prettiest cake around but it is the perfect accompaniment to morning or afternoon tea... ENJOY!
