I threw this together with what I had in the pantry. I was craving an apple turnover and had some leftover apples so I decided I'd make my own version of one of my favourite desserts.

Quick, simple and really tasty! Only uses 3 ingredients, but has an excellent result. Unlike most recipes, bananas don't need to be ripe.

This is the treat my children love to make themselves after a good term at school or when they have a friend staying. One cake is big enough to share between 2 children if you can convince them of it!!!

A rich gooey chilled cake that you can cut up into biscuit portions. Pure heaven for anyone who loves chocolate! Be patient, for best results - you will need to chill overnight or for at least 8 hours.

A lighter, sweeter custard. One of my new recipes, this dessert compliments French cooking. Unlike custard, it is best that 'French Custard' be served mildly warm and in small amounts. Perfect for a summer night dessert, or even a light sweet at brunch. Abeille crème de pomme: Bee's cream of apple!

This American fresh fruit dessert is so delectable that it's called ambrosia, which in Greek mythology was the food of the gods. It's a great alternative to pudding after Christmas lunch.

This is just like traditional Christmas pudding, but with less fat so much lighter. The house smells great all day long. You can line the pudding basin with pecan halves or cranberries before filling. Be creative and add Christmas decorations to the plate before serving.

The pastry top with its tangy lemon icing complements the sweet, juicy filling of apples and grapes braised in white wine.

With its emphasis on whole grains (oats, barley and wholemeal flour), fruit (apples and berries) and nuts (almonds), this could be the ideal health dessert. Top off the crumble with a dollop of low-fat vanilla yoghurt or reduced-fat custard.

A delightful dessert that combines traditional bread pudding with apples and a crumbly streusel topping. If you want to roll out your own pastry, use it to line a 23cm baking dish.

Most traditional recipes for crème caramel are made with a sugar-based caramel and a rich creamy custard. This fruity version uses apple juice, making it a much healthier but no less delicious option.

Why not enjoy your proverbial ‘apple a day’ in a satisfyingly sweet dessert? An abundance of apples, a crunchy oat topping and a spoonful of frozen vanilla yogurt add up to a sweet treat that's full of flavour and nutrients.

I got this recipe from my aunt. My children just love them. Try it with peaches and other fruit too.
